About the film
Narrated by Sir David Jason, The Lancaster at 80 tells the incredible story of how one of the most iconic aircraft in history was created - and how, as Bomber Command's most destructive weapon, it went on to become instrumental in the defeat of Nazi Germany during the Second World War.
With contributions from military historians Alexandra Churchill, Dr Peter Johnston and James Holland, authors Leo McKinstry and Mark Johnson, history enthusiast Arthur Williams and veteran Lancaster crewmembers, the film offers new angles on the aircraft's complex legacy, the brave multi-cultural aircrews who flew it, and the celebrated but controversial Arthur 'Bomber' Harris.
