    EXPLORER

    A return to the unknown

    Marshall Islands · Bikini Atoll · XX500

My relationship with exploration began underwater.

More than 30 years ago, I took up underwater photography and progressed into technical diving and expeditions to places where access was difficult and the stories were largely unseen. In 1996, I was part of the initial technical diving team at Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

Then my career took a different direction. Over the following decades I built a career in design, cinematography and filmmaking, telling stories for broadcasters, brands and organisations around the world.

In 2026, the XX500 expedition brought me back. I returned to the Pacific with a serious underwater camera system and found myself doing something that had once defined my life.

    I loved it.

More importantly, I realised I now bring three decades of filmmaking and visual storytelling to exploration.

    The Journey

    Why Extreme Environments?

I am drawn to places where access is difficult, conditions are demanding and there is still something to discover: deep ocean, remote wrecks, cave systems, polar environments and landscapes rarely seen by the outside world.

The environment is only part of the story. I am interested in the question behind the expedition.

    What are we looking for?

    Why has nobody found it?

What can it tell us about our planet?

What might it tell us about places beyond it?

    Oceans

Deep reefs, remote islands, seamounts, marine ecosystems and underwater environments that remain poorly understood.

    Archaeology

Shipwrecks, submerged sites and history preserved beneath the surface.

    Extreme Life

Extremophiles, microbiology, adaptation and the search for life in places once considered hostile to biology.

    Polar Environments

Ice, oceans, climate and the people working at the limits of the habitable world.

    Remote Earth

Caves, deserts, jungles, volcanoes and places where simply getting there is part of the story.

    Human Exploration

Because exploration is ultimately about people; the scientists, divers, explorers, engineers and researchers prepared to go somewhere difficult because they believe there is something worth finding.

    Where Exploration Becomes Story

The world doesn’t need another photographer collecting beautiful images of places that have already been photographed a thousand times. What interests me is discovery.

The expedition that asks a question. The scientist who believes there is something there. The diver who goes somewhere few people have been before. And the story that connects that discovery to a much bigger question about our planet and ourselves.

Back in the water. Back in remote environments. Back on expeditions. But this time with three decades of filmmaking, documentary and visual storytelling experience behind me.

I am now looking for the next expedition: beneath the ocean, beneath the ice, inside a cave, across a remote landscape or somewhere that doesn’t yet have a name.

The environment matters. The question matters more. I want to be there with a camera, turning exploration into a story.
