Whilst living in Majuro, the capital of the Marshall Islands, we were approached to undertake an underwater survey of the remote atoll of Jaluit.
Spending two weeks living in the newly built post office, we ventured to the north and western parts of the atoll to photograph and film all of the underwater wrecks.
This later became part of a report, now available online: the anthropological survey of Jaluit Atoll, terrestrial and underwater reconnaissance surveys.
On return to the UK I had an article published in Flypast Magazine; this led to contact from the US Navy in Washington about one of the discoveries, a Douglas Devastator.
This has subsequently created a wealth of interest in recovering the aircraft, although as of writing this has not happened yet; almost thirty years later.
The aircraft is still there, waiting on the sand of Jaluit Lagoon.
